Community Service

The congregation of St. Paul's is committed to serving its community as it is called to do by our Lord Jesus Christ. "…for I was hungry and you game Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me." Matthew 25: 35-36.

We partner with a variety of organizations to provide services to our brothers and sisters:

St. Paul's is among several parishes that participates in some of the many endeavors of FOCUS, North America. From weekly lunch service at a public park in Anaheim, to blanket and shoe drives, St. Paul is blessed to partner with FOCUS to provide help to those in need.

Second Harvest Food Bank, OC reaches out to the community for donations, grants, fundraising, food drives, food rescue, harvesting, and volunteers to help provide food, education and advocacy for the hungry. They are committed to finding innovative and sustainable ways to end hunger in Orange County. St. Paul's congregation members are blessed to have been able to harvest crops at Second Harvest's Incredible Edible Field in Irvine.  God willing, we will be harvesting again on May 7. Volunteers aged 7&up are invited to join us.

St. Paul's will partner with Habitat for Humanity of Orange County to build homes in Santa Ana for families in need. Dates are yet to be finalized, but new builds are planned for January/February/March 2016. Check back for more details.

Several times per year, St. Paul's congregation members provide dinner to the men staying at the Salvation Army Hospitality House, Santa Ana homeless shelter. Dinner preparation begins at 4:30PM, with service at 5:15PM. Check back for upcoming service dates.

The Ronald McDonald House in Orange, CA provides a comfortable "home away from home" for families of seriously ill children receiving care at Orange County hospitals. Many families travel great distances, often coming from across the country, to receive care at local hospitals. This house provides them a place to stay so that they can be near their children. St. Paul's has donated items to and has baked dessert for the residents, and plans to cook dinner for them on December 20.

St. Paul's has participated in the Families Forward Backpack/School Supply drive, which provides approximately 1,000 sets of supplies to children in Orange County whose parents cannot afford to buy them what their classmates are blessed to have at the beginning of each school year. Families Forward provides a number of services to homeless or at risk families in Orange County, including temporary housing, job placement, and food.

St. Paul's congregants have contributed hundreds of shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan's Purse. These boxes of gifts and small comforts like toiletries and art supplies are shipped around the world to children in need.

St. Paul's congregants have had the blessing of visiting the residents of the Park Regency Retirement Center and Park Regency Care Center in La Habra. Our children have made cards and sung hymns for residents, and have visited with them.

Congregants have also participated in projects such as:

  • Beach Clean-Up with OneOC
  • Financial contributions to BuildON, which builds schools in places where children currently do not have a place to get an education
  • Contribution of needed items: clothes, shoes, senior supplies, baby items, small appliances, small furniture, etc… to the Egyptian Pallet Project of the Santa Verena Charity. Pallets are loaded and containers filled with donated items which are then sent to Egypt and distributed to families in need.
  • Financial contributions to help rebuild four ancient Egyptian Monasteries that were damaged during heavy rains and flooding in the Fall of 2015.
